Build At Home: Small Side Table

Build At Home: Small Side Table

In our Dykes With Drills: Tools at Home Virtual Workshops, you added new tools to your home toolkit. Now let’s use those tools to practice your skills and make a unique piece of furniture for your home. Didn’t participate in the July or August DWD: Tools at Home Virtual Workshops? No problem! We have everything you need to know to participate in this workshop listed below.

In the Build at Home Virtual workshop, we review tool safety and best practices, then guide you in building a small sofa side table. This side table, designed to fit in small spaces, with a shelf and compartment for items, is a useful addition to any room in your home.

Price

$70.00 / per person
(Your ticket price for the Dykes With Drills: Build at Home Virtual Workshop will include the instruction and the materials for your project. Tools are not included in the ticket price.)

Required Tools

Certain tools are required to participate in the build portion of the virtual workshop. We have provided a list of tools needed for the workshop below, with links to what we recommend you buy, if you do not already have them. You can purchase them on your own, or you can purchase the optional Tool Kit Add-Ons.

Please Note: The cost for the tool kit add-ons will be higher than if you purchase the individual tools on your own, due to labor to prepare tool kits and shipping costs.

  • tape measure

  • drill

  • drill bits

  • pocket-hole (kreg) jig

  • 24” clamp

If you do not have these tools, you can purchase an optional tool kit add-ons (shipping costs will apply) or you can purchase them on your own (recommended).

Additional Pre-Requisites

  • Age 18+

Workshop Kit Includes

  • pre-cut wood

  • screws

  • wood glue

Tool Recommendations:

  • tape measure

  • cordless drill OR corded drill (How do you decide between a corded and cordless drill? Both work great but the corded drill will have a little more power than the cordless option and you won’t have to worry about the battery dying or waiting for your battery to recharge. The cordless option gives you a little more freedom, as you do not need to be near an outlet to use it. Typically corded drills are less expensive than the cordless drills but the options recommended above are the same price.)

  • drill bit - you will need a 3/32 inch bit to drill your pilot holes and a star driver bit for this project but if you plan to use your drill often, it is recommended you get the kit for only $1.82 more than the 2 bits needed for this project (kit includes various sizes of drill bits, paddle bits, and several different kinds of driver bits, with the bit holder/extender)

  • pocket-hole (kreg jig)

  • 24" clamp
