You make a difference.
At Dykes With Drills we are passionate about creating spaces where women feel included, especially in the areas of construction and trade skills. We are here to empower anyone who has ever felt unwelcome, or thought they couldn’t make something because of what they’ve been told. With your contribution we will host community builds, provide scholarships for our tool training workshops, and grow our programs to connect with more people. Help us fulfill on this goal by donating with the button below!
What Your Donations Support
Workshop Scholarships
People love our unique approach to our workshops. We make sure each individual leaves not only with a new found confidence using tools, but also a new confidence in working with others. We want to give out as many scholarships to our workshops as possible and by donating to Dykes With Drills you provide access to organizations and individuals that would be otherwise unable to partake.
Tiny Houses for homeless youth
In August 2019 we partnered with Youth Spirit Artworks to build one of 12 tiny houses for homeless youth. The Dykes With Drills tiny house was built exclusively by women, transgender and gender nonconforming people. Watch us on KTVU here!
Tiny Houses for Disaster Relief
Tiny houses have been a common theme we’ve focused on as part of our community outreach projects. In December 2018, we brought two transitional shelters that we assembled and insulated to Chico, California to support relief efforts after the Camp Fire. Watch a video of that project here!
Bay Area Derby’s Indoor Skate Park
In addition to building tiny houses for the homeless, we’ve also partnered to help build out skateparks for our boarding sisters. In March 2019 we helped build out Bay Area Derby’s indoor skate park. We had volunteers join us from Levi’s, Skate Like a Girl and Bay Area Derby to complete the project. Read an article of that project here.
Playland community park
Our first, and most dear to our heart community build in January 2018 launched Dykes With Drills into the organization it is now. We hosted built a skate ramp in the outer Sunset of San Francisco, to bring awareness to a community space that was being threatened to be torn down. Friends, family and neighbors joined us over three weekends to build a skate ramp, and host a best trick contest. Watch a video of that project here.
