Required Tools

Certain tools are required to participate in the build portion of the virtual workshops. We have provided a list of tools needed for each workshop, with links to what we recommend you buy, if you do not already own them. You can purchase them on your own, or you can purchase the optional tool kit add-ons for the tools that you need.

Please Note: The cost for the tool kit add-ons will be higher than if you purchase the individual tools on your own, due to labor to prepare tool kits and shipping costs.

  • tape measure

  • drill

  • drill bits

  • 24” clamp

  • orbital sander OR sanding sponges

If you do not have these tools, you can purchase an optional tool kit add-ons (shipping costs will apply) or you can purchase them on your own (recommended).

Workshop Kit Includes

  • pre-cut wood

  • screws

  • wood glue

  • dowels

  • wood filler

  • 2 drawer handles

  • 3 sheets of sandpaper (80, 120, 220 grits) for orbital sanders (sandpaper can be used with sanding blocks as well)

Tool Recommendations:

  • tape measure

  • cordless drill OR corded drill (How do you decide between a corded and cordless drill? Both work great but the corded drill will have a little more power than the cordless option and you won’t have to worry about the battery dying or waiting for your battery to recharge. The cordless option gives you a little more freedom, as you do not need to be near an outlet to use it. Typically corded drills are less expensive than the cordless drills but the options recommended above are the same price.)

  • drill bits - you will need a 3/32 inch bit to drill your pilot holes and a star driver bit for this project but if you plan to use your drill often, it is recommended you get the kit for only $1.82 more than the 2 bits needed for this project (kit includes various sizes of drill bits, paddle bits, and several different kinds of driver bits, with the bit holder/extender)

  • 24" clamp

  • orbital sander OR sanding sponges You will be learning finishing techniques in this workshop, including sanding. Orbital sanders can be very useful to have, especially if you like to refinishing projects, and will save you time when sanding but you can also sand your project by hand using a sanding block or sanding sponges. You will learn both techniques in the class but will only need one of the following to participate in this part of the workshop: orbital sander OR sanding sponges
